Ranger alcohol inks, Ranger paint daubers, embossing powders, chalk ink, EK Success border punch, color cardstock, glossy cardstock. Stamp by Stampin' Up.

Custom Embellishment

Were you ever in need of an embellishment but did not have anything to match? Have you ever had materials you never wanted to use again? Try making a custom embellishment. I have a ton of chipboard that goes with nothing. So I decided to try covering it with gesso a material used to prepare canvas for painting. I took a chipboard circle, covered it in gesso using a paint dabber and let it dry. You can speed up the process with a heat gun. I then used acrylic paint dabbers in two shades of green, let dry, then stamped the word hope in chalk ink. See the completed card on the next post!

Copic Marker Tests

Okay, I have been on a Copic kick today having received my manual in the mail and read the whole thing overnight. So I decided to conduct an extensive test today of the best papers and stamping ink to use with Copic markers. Here are the results!

Hows everyone in blog land? Yep been tooo long! Getting back in the swing of things and getting organized for more card crafting to come your way. The new room is the bomb and just got new inspiration from the Michigan Megameet. I had a blast speaking with Judy Watanabe of Judikins and got the opportunity to watch the famed Tim Holtz!

Cardstock Verdict Is In!

The last posting I complained that I had not tried a good cardstock that works with Copic markers. Well, I have found one thanks to Sally Lynn MacDonald who taught the certification class. It is Simply Smooth White by Prism. It is great!! It has a really smooth finish. It takes the Memento stamping ink well and does not bleed your Copic markers which was the major complaint with the others I tried. The Simply Smooth paper was in Sally Lynn's sample paper packet which also included Neenah Classic Crest White which I abslutely did not like-too much bleed. So there you have it. Look online and purchase a few sheets. I know you will be satisfied.

First Copic Since Cert. Class

Okay the studio is up and running! My first "to do" was making a Copic card practicing blending. It went very well! I have to say Memento ink does work the best (I've tried several). As for paper, I do not like any of the cardstocks I have tried. If anyone knows of a good one, please inform me. What I like best is color copy paper from an office supply store. It cost a bit more than regular copy paper but is worth it. I wanted to make a sassy card so here it is!-Stamps by Stamping Bella and My Favorite Things.

Completed Copic Certification!

Hello, all. I am excited to say that I completed the Copic certification class yesterday in Ohio with Sally Lynn MacDonald! It was a great experience. I will be playing around with the techniques for a while so look for new Copic projects posted soon. I recently moved and I am in the process of unpacking everything as well as wrapping up the school year. Please be patient with me because this summer is going to be a great one filled with all sorts of new projects.
